FAQs

We know you have questions.

We’ve answered some common questions about crowdfunding and making your gift.

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is an online tool to raise money for specific projects and initiatives. Donors can track the progress of each campaign and spread the word to their community.

Are gifts to TCNJ Crowdfunding tax-deductible?

Yes, your gift to The College of New Jersey is fully tax-deductible and a tax receipt will be emailed to you immediately following your transaction on the website.

Does my name appear if I make a gift to a crowdfunding campaign?

Yes, your name will appear on the donor wall but you have the option to make your gift anonymous if you do not want your name to appear.

Can I volunteer to help the groups raise money?

By clicking on the share icons on the project page you can encourage your community to give on social media and through email, text, and other platforms.

I don’t see the project I want to support. How do I support them?

If you are interested in supporting a department, fund, program, club, or activity not listed on our site please continue to the check out page. Write in your designation in the box that says “If you selected Other, where do you want your gift designated?” We will make sure your gift gets to the right place!

What if a group doesn’t meet their dollar goal?

The group keeps all funds raised, regardless of whether they reach their goal or not.

Why am I having trouble making my Venmo payment?

Venmo payments are only supported in certain browsers depending on your device:

  • iOS devices (iPhone & iPad): Safari only
  • Android devices: Chrome only

If you're using an Android device, please make sure you're using Chrome and not one of the built-in browsers like the Samsung browser. If you're using an iOS device, please make sure you're using Safari. On iOS, the following icon in the bottom right of your screen indicates that you're not in Safari:

If you see this icon, just tap it to re-open the site in Safari and retry your payment.

If you try and make a Venmo payment from a non-supported browser, you may be unable to complete your donation once you exit the Venmo app. There are two potential issues you may run into:

  1. If you're not redirected to Venmo after selecting the Venmo option on the Giving Form, you likely don't have Venmo configured on your device. Please make sure you have Venmo installed and set up with at least one payment method.
  2. If you're redirected to Venmo successfully but find that you're not redirected back to the TCNJ Crowdfunding site once you complete your payment, you're likely not using one of the supported browsers above.
