African American Student Nurse Mentorship Program, “Moving Forward Together,” was founded in September 2017. It aims to positively impact the lives of African American nursing students by providing support, fostering character development, enhancing leadership skills, and building self-confidence. Currently there are 40 active mentors and 33 mentees, who participate in Community Engaged Learning, undergraduate research, mentored workshops, and field experiences.
“Moving Forward Together” needs your help to ensure that nursing student mentees continue to build relationships with nursing mentors to enhance their intellectual curiosity and their professional skills.
“Without having access to this
monumental resource, I would not have had the opportunity to become a published
author and speaker at the Eastern Nurses Research Society (ENRS) Annual
Conference, held in Rhode Island in 2022.”

A donation to “Moving Forward Together” will pay for:
• Three to four students and two mentors to accompany the Black Nurses
Association on Capitol Hill Day. They will have the opportunity to speak
with representatives in Washington, D.C. about various laws and healthcare.
• Tutoring for senior mentees as they prepare for their licensure
examination (NCLEX).
• Books as a resource for the students.
• Finals Breakfast
• The Spring Bowling Event for the Mentors and Mentees.
• The Fall Kickoff and Spring Semester Close award ceremony.
